About the Role
The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker with a minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience in a statutory setting. You will be experienced in safeguarding, and assessments under the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act. You will have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation and guidance, alongside experience of working with mental health. Your role will involve case management of complex cases under the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding, including taking cases to the Court of Protection. You will receive support and supervision from senior practitioners and provide supervision to other social workers. You will undertake assessments and reviews, working in partnership across organisational boundaries with NHS mental health teams, wards, and a range of partnership organisations. The successful candidate will progress towards AMHP training as part of their career development pathway.
The Mental Health Social Care Team (MHSCT) is part of Adult Social Care within the Royal Borough of Kingston. The team specialises in mental health, autism, and drug and alcohol issues, and supports young people transitioning into adult services. We work closely with NHS mental health teams, mental health wards, primary care, and a wide range of community partners. Based at Tolworth Hospital, the team operates a hybrid working model combining home and office-based work. We are a large, friendly, and supportive team including managers and business support colleagues.

Experience
Minimum of 2 years post-qualifying experience as a social worker in a statutory setting. Experience in safeguarding, Care Act 2014 assessments, Mental Capacity Act, and working with mental health. Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation and guidance is essential. Experience working with mental health, autism, and drug and alcohol issues in a statutory setting is required.
About you
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing. Ability to work collaboratively across organisational boundaries with NHS and other partner agencies. Enthusiastic and committed to professional development, including progressing towards AMHP training. Good IT skills are advantageous.
Qualifications
Qualified social worker status is essential.
