About the Role
Freddie’s Flowers was founded by Freddie Garland in October 2014 with one ambition: to change people’s relationship with flowers. We believe flowers aren’t only for grand occasions, but they make every day special, inspiring creativity and sparking joy. Starting with a direct-to-consumer subscription model, we have grown a loyal UK following, expanded to Germany in 2020, and launched a gifting service in 2023. We are now a B Corp organisation committed to changing the world of flowers and the world with flowers.
The Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring the optimal product mix, pricing, and promotional strategy to maximise commercial performance across subscription and gifting in both the UK and Germany. This role acts as a critical link between the Flowers, Creative, Ops/Buying, Marketing, and Commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Flower range planning: Oversee and plan the upcoming flower calendar, working with Flower and Commercial teams to ensure a balanced range of styles, colours, and price points, considering seasonal moments in both markets. Manage and communicate the calendar, owning launch/end dates, pricing, sales channels (core subscription, choice subscription, gifting), and any mid-cycle changes.
2. Shop range planning: Own, source, and manage add-ons and shop range to drive growth in average order value through add-ons and incremental revenue from one-off shop purchases.
3. Pricing: Set and manage pricing for all arrangements across choice and gifting, experiment with dynamic pricing on gifting, collaborate with Buying and Flower teams to understand costs and manage margins, and conduct competitor analysis across both markets.
4. Peak Period Trading: Manage short-term trading during peak periods (Valentine's Day, Christmas, Mother’s Day), focusing on maximising net revenue while managing waste. Optimise gifting range for conversion during seasonal peaks and manage delivery fees for profit.
5. Visual Merchandising and Weekly Trading: Manage onsite visual merchandising across flowers and add-ons, product listings, and navigation to drive sales across gifting and subscriptions. Use these levers to maximise net profit weekly, ensuring products are correctly tagged to aid discovery.
6. Performance Reporting and Analysis: Produce weekly and monthly reports on key trading metrics including subscription sales, swaps, gifting sales, and traffic/conversion rates on gifting product pages. Use data, competitor analysis, and consumer insights to inform future range, pricing, and promotional strategies.
