This role is a high-performing individual contributor position on the Expedia Group Design System (EGDS) team. You will apply your iOS engineering expertise to improve existing systems, advocate for the value engineering adds to the design lifecycle, mentor junior engineers, and lead complex, well-defined projects that deliver high-quality UI patterns and experiences for travelers and suppliers across Expedia Group. You will approach problem-solving with an AI-first mindset, using tools like Claude Code to accelerate delivery, and help raise the bar for AI-assisted development across the team.

Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, or equivalent experience (Technical degree preferred).
- 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3+ years with a Master's degree.
- Strong proficiency with Swift, SwiftUI, and Xcode.
- Proficient with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) as a core, daily part of the engineering workflow.
- Experience maintaining and running multiple projects/products in production environments including bug fixing, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
- Experience writing unit tests, creating testable code, and debugging issues using monitoring tools.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.
- Experience using and ideally contributing to design systems.

About You
- Leads design and engineering reviews and enforces accessibility and performance budgets within the iOS design system.
- Skilled in implementing sophisticated UI interactions, animations, and transitions with a strong understanding of layout and screen flow.
- Able to select appropriate technology and iOS design patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM, MVP) across multi-module systems.
- Experienced in leading cross-team discussions to align on outcomes for projects spanning multiple teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with an AI-first approach.
- Comfortable working with various Apple mobile technologies including different form factors, widgets, and Apple Watch.
- Passionate about iOS technologies and best practices.
- Demonstrates knowledge of advanced and relevant iOS technology.
- Proven track record of successful collaboration with designers and engineers to create accessible, user-centric solutions.
- Able to develop prototypes to influence strategy and advise on technical limitations.
- Identifies inefficiencies in code or systems and offers suggestions for improvements.
- Leads and clarifies code evolution in code reviews.
- Owns an iOS-centric approach to analyzing issues and ensures all components (structure, people, process, technology) are accounted for.
- Compiles and reports on major operational or technical initiatives.

Qualifications
- Effective application of software design principles, data structures, design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to write clean, maintainable, optimized, and modular code.
- Strong knowledge of API/schema design principles to solve data requirements for iOS experiences.
- Ability to design easily testable and observable software.
- Experience monitoring, instrumenting, and troubleshooting code performance including frame rate, memory usage, and battery optimization.
- Ability to lead roadmap tradeoffs across feature sets, balancing sequencing and risk against business needs.
- Skilled in designing application integration with the underlying iOS platform including offline-ready flows and caching.
- Demonstrates continuous learning and shares new skills and knowledge with the team to increase effectiveness.
