About the Role
Join the Guardian's Social Platforms team as a Motion Graphics Designer, creating compelling motion graphics and animations for multimedia content with a focus on TikTok, Instagram, and other social media channels. You will design same-day news explainers, longer form social-first investigations, evergreen data analysis videos, infographic headline cards, and bespoke off-platform carousels. Working closely with the video and social teams, you will produce bespoke audience-focused motion graphics, static cards, carousels, and animations to a consistently high standard across all digital journalism areas. You will also create and maintain graphic templates for internal and external video producers, ensuring alignment with Guardian style and brand guidelines. Collaboration with video producers, multimedia editors, journalists, art directors, designers, developers, and other specialists is key, as is contributing to interactive journalism projects with the visuals team as required. Requirements

Experience
Proven professional experience creating high-quality motion graphics, animation, and static design that translate ideas into engaging, dynamic visual storytelling. Strong use of typography, colour, composition, and brand adherence is essential. Experience developing new video formats and styles, particularly explainers and social media news videos. Comfortable with practical video production aspects from concept through animation and post-production, including sound and music integration. Experience working collaboratively with video producers, designers, and editors. Experience in a newsroom environment is advantageous.

Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Illustrator, After Effects, Photoshop, Figma, and Premiere Pro is highly desirable. A passion for visual storytelling and continuous learning is essential. No specific formal qualifications are mandated, but relevant professional experience and software skills are required.
