Part of Candle Media, Moonbug operates at the intersection of content, community, and commerce to drive accelerated, sustainable growth.
As the Music Publishing Copyright Coordinator, you will play a vital role in protecting and managing Moonbug’s extensive and growing music catalogue. You will ensure accurate documentation, registration, and protection of musical intellectual property worldwide. Working within the Music team, you will manage complex metadata, support cue sheet administration, and collaborate closely with music production teams and publishing partners. This role is key to supporting copyright operations in a fast-scaling, digital-first entertainment company, enabling monetisation and protection of beloved children’s songs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate copyright records across internal and external systems, ensuring alignment of song titles, publishers, splits, and identifiers (ISWC, ISRC, CAE/IPI).
- Support pre-registration and registration of new musical works, including preparing CWR files for new catalogues.
- Create, prepare, and track cue sheet submissions for global broadcasters and support improvements in cue sheet tools and processes.
- Monitor agent and sub-publisher registration activities, ensuring prompt and accurate registration of new works and resolving queries.
- Collaborate with Income Tracking, Label Operations, and Legal teams to ensure accurate copyright data.
- Act as a key contact for copyright queries, liaising with global PROs, UMPG, songwriters, and other stakeholders.
- Manage day-to-day accuracy of asset-level metadata, identify and correct metadata gaps, reconcile discrepancies, and flag systemic issues.
- Identify opportunities to streamline copyright and metadata workflows, including the use of AI-assisted tools, and support process improvements across the team.
Experience
Interest in or exposure to music publishing, copyright administration, or similar rights management roles is a plus. Hands-on experience with music registration portals and global PROs/CMOs (e.g., PRS, BMI, ASCAP, JASRAC) is advantageous. Familiarity with copyright management software and databases is beneficial.
About you
Strong working knowledge of music copyright data and standard industry identifiers (ISRC, ISWC, CAE/IPI). Proficient in Word and Excel, comfortable working with large, structured datasets. Solid understanding of cue sheet creation. Curious or comfortable using AI tools to support workflows and process improvements. Exceptional attention to detail with proven ability to manage large catalogues and complex metadata accurately. Clear and confident communicator able to collaborate effectively across internal teams and external rights organisations. Proactive problem solver capable of managing high-volume, time-sensitive workflows in a scale-up environment.
Qualifications
Early career candidates with strong transferable skills are encouraged to apply. No specific formal qualifications required, but a passion for music rights and copyright management is essential.
