Location
Central London, primarily remote with travel to UK locations and occasional international travel.

Hours
Full time, with participation in an on-call rotation beginning after 6 months of service.

About the Role
Join Motorola Solutions as a Network Engineer within our Shared Platform services team, playing a key role in planning, designing, and implementing new networking solutions while supporting critical existing infrastructure. Our solutions support emergency services and public safety agencies across the UK and Europe, including platforms like Guardian, a call taking and dispatching system, and Pronto, a digital notebook service for frontline police officers. You will manage networking operations across multiple sites, maintain firewall rules and routing policies, collaborate with third-party vendors, and ensure compliance with security standards such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, engage with emerging technologies, and contribute to infrastructure undergoing rapid transformation. Travel within the UK and occasionally internationally will be required.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum 3 years in a similar network engineering role.
- Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts including VLANs, routing protocols, subnetting, and STP.
- Hands-on experience with Aruba switches or similar vendors (Cisco, HP, Juniper).
- Experience managing and troubleshooting private circuits and WAN technologies such as DIA, IPSEC over internet, and EWLs.
- Proficient with routing protocols OSPF and BGP, including designing and maintaining multi-site routing topologies.
- Experience administering large firewall estates (Fortinet, Checkpoint), including writing and maintaining firewall rulesets and familiarity with NAT, UTM features, IDS/IPS policies, and VPN technologies.
- Skilled in packet capture and analysis tools like Wireshark, and network monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Solarwinds, or Fortianalyser.
- Ability to ensure security best practices in network deployments.

About You
- UK resident for a minimum of 5 years to obtain NPPV3 and SC clearance.
- Strong communication skills to articulate network concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and work on diverse projects in a demanding environment.

Qualifications
- Ability to attain NPPV3 and SC clearance.
- Desirable experience includes SD-WAN solutions (Fortinet SD-WAN), SDN technologies (VMWare NSX, Cisco ACI, OVN), SIP technologies, and RedHat Openshift.
