About the Role

Your role will focus on maximising independence, participation, wellbeing, and quality of life through person-centred, goal-focused rehabilitation delivered in centre-based, community, and home environments. You will work collaboratively with members, carers, staff, and external organisations to provide advice, recommendations, training, and support that promote successful engagement in daily living, education, employment, leisure, and community participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, treatment, and reviews for people with complex neurological conditions using evidence-based tools.
- Develop and negotiate goal-directed, person-centred treatment programmes that promote individual choice and autonomy.
- Assess needs for assistive technology and adaptive environments, including recommending, trialling, and providing training and support.
- Develop, facilitate, and evaluate therapeutic groups through a co-production approach.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with members experiencing speech, cognitive, and behavioural difficulties.
- Share complex clinical information clearly with colleagues, families, carers, and external professionals.
- Manage complex cases independently, applying professional judgement and risk management strategies to maintain safety and positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and prepare professional reports and correspondence.
- Deliver training, advice, and guidance to staff, volunteers, carers, and community organisations on relevant topics such as cognition, fatigue management, brain injury, and wheelchair use.
- Support individuals to maximise engagement in education, employment, and leisure activities.
Experience
Experience working with individuals with acquired brain injury or complex neurological conditions is essential. Proven ability to deliver occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and rehabilitation in community and home settings is required. Experience in group facilitation and co-production approaches is desirable.
About You
You will be a compassionate, patient, and effective communicator, able to engage with individuals who have cognitive, speech, and behavioural challenges. You should be confident working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage complex caseloads safely and effectively are important. You will be committed to promoting independence and quality of life for people with brain injuries.
Qualifications
You must hold a recognised occupational therapy qualification and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Additional training or experience in neuro-rehabilitation or brain injury is advantageous.
