About the Role
Future Publishing is a global leader in specialist media, delivering trusted brands that inform, inspire, and drive action. The Circulation Tech team supports Marketforce, the business unit focused on Circulation Newsstand in the UK and globally, which is the #1 magazine distributor, distributing over 200 million copies worldwide annually. The Marketforce applications are bespoke and purpose-built, built on Oracle (19c), Oracle Forms, Oracle APEX 24.2, WebLogic, and Microsoft .NET technologies, using both waterfall and agile methodologies.
As an Oracle Database Engineer reporting to the Database Manager, you will become the technical expert in Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle APEX 24.2 for application support, BAU delivery, enhancements, and developments. You will be the primary contact for the business on database-related matters and provide secondary cover for other applications based on your technology experience. The role involves working with Oracle distributed 19c databases hosted on Oracle Data Appliance hardware and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Project Managers, Business Analysts, BI, Software Engineers, and external partners.

Experience
- Proven experience in database development using Oracle PL/SQL
- Strong SQL writing skills and data analysis using SQLPlus, Toad, or SQL Developer
- Experience writing complex and optimized SQL queries
- Experience debugging and performance tuning PL/SQL code
- Experience with Oracle Forms 12c (Oracle Fusion Middleware)
- Experience with ETL processing, including data extraction, transformation, and loading
- Working knowledge of partitioning and materialised views
- Experience working in a support environment with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Familiarity with standard procedures and project life cycles
