About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care nationally. The Radiology Department is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to join their team. This role involves covering Radiology reception areas and supporting outpatient and inpatient scheduling across multiple imaging modalities including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and Interventional Radiology, as well as specialist paediatric and cancer centre locations.

The Patient Access Coordinator will be the first point of contact for patients and service users, providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support. You will liaise closely with clinical and management teams to ensure timely and appropriate appointments according to patient care pathways. The role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and the capacity to work under pressure.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, demonstrating the ability to manage difficult customers and challenging situations.
- Experience working both autonomously and as part of a team.

About you
- Enthusiastic and patient-focused with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload methodically, efficiently, and accurately to meet tight deadlines.
- Understanding of equal opportunities and confidentiality principles.
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing, face to face, and on the phone, conveying sensitive and non-clinical information tactfully.

Qualifications
- Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent.
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Customer service qualification or training is desirable.

Desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in an administrative role within the NHS.
- Knowledge of key waiting times targets including 18 weeks.
- Familiarity with Trust hospital systems such as PIMS (Patient Information Management System).
