About the Role
As a Personal Advisor within Camden Council's Care Experienced Service, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 16 to 25 as they transition from care into independent adulthood. You will manage a caseload of approximately 21–24 care experienced young people, building positive and trusting relationships that focus on their aspirations.
Working alongside Social Workers while young people remain looked after, you will take lead responsibility for supporting them once they leave care. Your role will involve helping young people develop practical and emotional skills needed for independence, regularly visiting them in their homes, reviewing and developing Pathway Plans, coordinating support from partner agencies, and advocating for access to housing, education, employment, training, health services, and Camden's Local Offer.
You will attend professional meetings, maintain accurate case records, and collaborate with colleagues and external partners to ensure young people receive timely and appropriate support. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference by helping care experienced young people build confidence, develop resilience, and achieve positive outcomes.
Alternative flexible working options are available and open to discussion.
Experience
Experience supporting young people aged 16–25, particularly in developing independence, sustaining accommodation, and preparing for adulthood. Experience supporting care experienced or vulnerable young people to achieve positive outcomes is essential.
Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000, Children and Social Work Act 2017, and safeguarding legislation.
Experience completing assessments and developing high-quality Pathway Plans.

You have an understanding of the challenges faced by care experienced young people, including barriers related to housing, education, employment, health, and wellbeing.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with young people, families, and partner agencies.
Strong organisational skills, able to manage your own workload, maintain accurate records, and work independently when required.
A commitment to promoting high aspirations, equality, and inclusion, helping every young person realise their potential.
