About the Role
The Planner role at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is responsible for the effective and efficient planning of patient transport services. You will ensure optimal allocation of vehicles and resources to provide maximum service coverage with minimal disruption and reduced journey times. Daily duties include planning routes and vehicle allocation using the CLERIC computer-based planning and day control system, managing work allocation via handheld PDAs, and making necessary amendments to bookings such as cancellations or changes to maintain accurate client statistics. You will liaise regularly with hospital staff, PTS management, renal coordinators, and patients to ensure smooth service operations. The role also involves coordinating long-distance journeys efficiently, negotiating appointment changes with surgeries and hospital staff, and making decisions to resolve unforeseen transport issues such as vehicle breakdowns. Additionally, you will manage work reallocation due to staff absence and handle on-the-day booking requests, ensuring timely communication with clinics and coordinators regarding patient attendance.
