About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer (Maintenance Plumber) to join our Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Feltham, a category C prison and Young Offender Institution holding young people aged 15 to 30 years. You will be part of a supportive and driven team working shifts Monday to Sunday, committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment for prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.
HMP Feltham operates like a self-contained city, and the Facilities Maintenance Team plays a vital role in ensuring smooth and safe operations. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work alongside experienced colleagues from various trades including plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference.
This role offers the opportunity to use your skills to support rehabilitation and positive change within the prison environment. You will be part of a Ministry of Justice business providing critical, time-bound services to HMPPS, with a strong focus on safety, inclusion, and career development.

Requirements

Experience
- Minimum two years' experience working as a plumber or equivalent role
- Experience working on commercial or industrial heating and water systems
- Familiarity with Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements
- Good knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations

Qualifications
- Qualified plumber to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and Heating), NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent
- Strong Health & Safety knowledge
