London or Bristol office locations. The successful candidate will be expected to work two days per week in person on average, including attendance at their office location. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed and agreed with the line manager subject to role and business needs.

About the Role
The National Housing Federation (NHF) is seeking a Policy Officer to specialise in housing management, homelessness, supported housing, and other high-profile policy areas impacting housing. The NHF represents almost 600 housing associations in England, providing 2.6 million homes to around six million people. Policy Officers at NHF shape policy work in specific areas, supported by the wider policy team and organisation. In this role, you will become an expert in your policy areas, drawing on the knowledge and experience of housing association members and your own skills.

Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with members to develop policy ideas and solutions.
- Engaging with members and stakeholders to identify and respond to sector challenges and opportunities.
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Keeping up to date with the current policy environment and issues impacting housing.
- Contributing to NHF’s high-profile events and campaigns.
- Influencing strategic stakeholders and policy makers.

Requirements

Experience
A clear understanding of policy development processes and substantial experience working in a policy role or an equivalent role focused on developing strategic ideas and solutions. Experience building relationships with and influencing stakeholders is essential.

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop a strong understanding of specific policy areas, possess strong analytical and communication skills, and be motivated to influence housing policy in a fast-paced environment.
