About the Role
We are seeking a creative, proactive and organised PR Executive to support the delivery of consumer PR activity for Rail Delivery Group. Working closely with the Consumer PR Manager and the wider PR and Marketing team, you will help plan, deliver and evaluate PR campaigns and press office activity that support National Rail, Railcard and the rail industry’s national marketing objectives. Your role will involve developing compelling PR content, building relationships with media contacts, supporting proactive and reactive PR activity, managing media enquiries, and monitoring coverage, industry trends and potential reputational issues. You will also track and report on campaign performance, using insights to optimise activity and demonstrate results.

Collaborating with colleagues and agency partners, you will help deliver integrated campaigns that increase the mental availability and consideration of rail travel, inspire more people to choose the train, enhance the reputation of the rail industry, and drive awareness, consideration and commercial results for Railcard and other marketing initiatives.

Key responsibilities include supporting the Consumer PR Manager to develop and deliver annual consumer PR plans for the rail industry’s National Marketing activity, Railcard marketing and other projects; delivering ongoing press office activity and supporting upweighted PR campaigns; developing media relationships and pitching to journalists to secure positive placements across print, broadcast and online media; researching and writing press releases, media pitches, inspirational content, customer communications, internal communications copy, briefing documents and Q&As; monitoring the media landscape to identify news, trends and opportunities; capturing and evaluating press coverage with monthly reporting against KPIs; managing media enquiries and interview requests; and collaborating with agencies and internal teams to align PR activity with wider marketing objectives and industry-wide campaigns.
