About the Role
The Applied Innovation (AI) Engineering team is an elite machine learning group within the Chief Data Analytics Office (CDAO) Technology group at JPMorganChase. This team focuses on business-critical priorities using innovative machine learning techniques and technologies, with emphasis on Software, Cybersecurity, and Technology Infrastructure. As a Principal Software Engineer in this team, you will design, develop, deploy, and maintain advanced AI products that support the firm’s growth and innovation. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, and data scientists to deliver trusted, scalable solutions. Your role is central to executing long-term projects that drive technical excellence and foster a culture of inclusion.

Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready products, building and maintaining data pipelines for analytics and model evaluation, and executing creative software solutions beyond conventional approaches. You will provide feedback to improve architecture governance, create secure and high-quality production code, maintain synchronous algorithms, and proactively identify hidden problems to enhance coding hygiene and system architecture. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance, architect AI-enabled engineering workflows to improve delivery speed and operational outcomes, and apply knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle tools including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.

Experience
- Proven programming and scripting skills in multiple modern languages including Python, Golang, TypeScript within AWS/Cloud environments
- Experience with GPT, Large Language Models (LLM), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Generative AI, and Prompt Engineering technologies
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in large corporate environments
- Familiarity with agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Applicant Resiliency, and Security
- Solid understanding of software applications and technical processes including synchronous and asynchronous APIs, concurrency, and scalable software design frameworks
