About the Role
If you are looking for a game-changing career, working for one of the world's leading financial institutions, you've come to the right place. As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase, you will lead change as part of an agile team in Global Technology Asset Management that works to enhance, build, deliver, and operate firmwide solutions whilst mentoring junior members of the team. You will drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, applying technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges spanning multiple technologies and applications.

Your responsibilities include engaging with stakeholders to break down complex and ambiguous problems into technical specifications that an engineering team can implement under your guidance. You will lead and participate in regular technical meetings with the ability to influence not only the technology strategy but also shape the product, ensuring architectural decisions align with broader organizational goals and strategy.

You will architect and govern agentic AI-enabled engineering workflows using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment to improve delivery speed, code quality, and operational outcomes at scale (e.g., AI-driven PR review assistance, test generation/maintenance, release readiness checks, incident triage, and root-cause acceleration), while defining guardrails for validation, security, resiliency, and reuse across teams.

Design and implement secure, high-quality technical solutions written in Java; review and debug code whilst owning and delivering end-to-end cutting-edge solutions leveraging the latest technologies and best industry practices. Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale. Support the products you've built through their entire life cycle, including production and incident management.

Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies. Add to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, and respect.

- Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading adoption of agentic AI-enabled development practices using enterprise-authorized tools within the work environment across teams, including setting standards for human-in-the-loop validation, auditability/traceability of changes, and secure handling of sensitive data
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use and control expectations in engineering workflows, including security/resiliency implications, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance; ability to influence senior technical leaders on safe scaling patterns and reuse
