We are seeking a Procurement Officer to join our transforming Procurement team, which is focused on making procurement simpler, faster, and more strategic. You will provide expert guidance and commercial insight to help colleagues source goods and services effectively and responsibly, advancing Wellcome's mission.
In this role, you will partner with colleagues across Wellcome to understand procurement needs and shape sourcing strategies that deliver value and manage risk. You will manage end-to-end procurement activities including market engagement, supplier selection, contracting, and contract management, ensuring compliance and transparency.
You will collaborate with Category Managers on category planning, market analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. Building and maintaining productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders will be key to ensuring contracts are delivered effectively.
Utilizing procurement systems such as Oracle ERP, you will support purchasing activities and maintain accurate records to enable efficient processes. You will also contribute to Procurement team projects and priorities, promoting inclusive working practices and aligning activities with Wellcome's policies and governance.

Experience
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, tendering, contracting, and supplier management
- Proven ability to balance value for money with effective risk management
- Experience building productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborating across teams
- Experience negotiating and managing contracts to support commercial and operational outcomes
- Ability to manage competing priorities, solve problems, and adapt to changing requirements in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a private sector procurement function and delivering high-quality procurement activities or projects to agreed deadlines
- Experience with Oracle P2P processes is advantageous
About you
You are a confident communicator and problem-solver who enjoys building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You can balance multiple priorities, work to tight deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements while contributing positively to a collaborative and inclusive team environment. An interest in working towards a CIPS qualification would be beneficial.
Qualifications
There are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, but working towards or holding a CIPS qualification would be advantageous.
