About the Role
The Production and Programming Operations team plays a fundamental role in supporting the commissioning process within Channel 5. This department leads and manages commercial and operational support for original content commissioned for the channel. As a Production Executive, you will be responsible for the commercial negotiation and management of original commissioned content, both scripted and unscripted, across all Channel 5 owned and operated services.

You will oversee the end-to-end production of a slate of commissions, from initial liaison with Commissioning Editors and negotiation with external producing partners, through programme commission approval via the channel's BBAM (Business Board Approval Meeting) commissioning process, to the delivery of masters and paperwork, approval of final cost reports, payments, and production close down.

Key responsibilities include managing and negotiating production budgets and schedules with third-party producers and suppliers to ensure value for money, negotiating key commercial terms to achieve the best commercial position, undertaking risk profiling and management in collaboration with Legal Compliance and Risk Management, and managing the entire production process from intent to commit through to delivery and close down.

You will liaise with Business and Legal Affairs to ensure contracts and PPAs are issued and signed timely, support payment approvals, collaborate with internal departments including Legal, Finance, Scheduling, Compliance, Press & Publicity, and Broadcast Operations, and maintain excellent communication and efficiencies.

Additionally, you will manage multiple productions at various stages, ensuring real-time communication of system data, support senior leadership in delivering content and commercial strategy, and contribute to department process and workflow improvements as well as business projects and initiatives.

Experience
- At least five years' experience in unscripted/scripted TV production environments.
- Relevant experience in a similar mid to senior level role such as Production Executive, Senior Production Manager, or Line Producer.
- In-depth knowledge of the programme production cycle.
- Extensive experience in budgeting, cash flow, cost analysis, and rights negotiations.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and unions including Ofcom, Equity, PACT, WGGB.
- Understanding of local and international tax credits and production incentives.
- Knowledge of production obligations including Production Insurance, Health & Safety, Sustainability, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion, welfare and risk management, and Duty of Care.
