About the Role
As a Quant Developer at Man Group, you will join one of the flagship teams within Man’s systematic trading arm, Man AHL. Working closely with Quant Researchers focusing on equity market neutral models, you will be responsible for building new alphas and trading strategies. You will be part of a diverse and talented technology team, collaborating in small cross-functional groups to deliver high-quality software solutions that support systematic trading across multiple asset classes.
Man Group’s technology stack primarily includes Python with the scientific stack (numpy, scipy, pandas, scikit-learn), Java and C++ for high throughput systems, and tools such as Airflow, Kafka, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ansible, and Terraform. The team embraces agile development, continuous integration, and code review practices to maintain engineering excellence.

Experience
- Exceptional technology skills with peer recognition as an expert in your domain
- Strong knowledge of Python and proficiency on Linux platforms
- Experience with data analysis libraries such as NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas
- Understanding of financial markets and instruments
- Familiarity with collaborative software engineering practices including agile development, continuous integration, code review, unit testing, and refactoring
About you
- Strong academic record with a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics or related field from a leading university
- Craftsman-like approach to software development with pride in engineering excellence
- Passionate about technology demonstrated through personal projects or open-source contributions
- Intellectually robust with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with researchers, traders, and senior stakeholders
Qualifications
- Degree with high mathematical and computing content (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics)
Advantageous
- Experience in front office quantitative software development in hedge funds or investment banks
- Experience with web-based development and visualization technologies for complex data sets
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques and relevant libraries such as scikit-learn and TensorFlow
