About the Role
The Total Returns team is responsible for the $14bn ‘TargetRisk’ fund and related strategies. These strategies leverage 40 years of AHL experience in systematic futures trading and risk management to provide best-in-class total return portfolios. We are seeking a quantitative researcher to work on existing products and assist in the development of future strategies. Responsibilities include researching, developing, and implementing investment and portfolio construction concepts to improve portfolio outcomes; contributing to the design and development of new total return strategies; assisting in managing the team’s strategies in collaboration with Trading, Operations, and Technology; becoming an expert in our systems to translate investment concepts into trades; monitoring markets and their impact on trading models, proposing model diagnostics and feeding observations back into research; and following industry and academic literature to suggest profitable strategy ideas.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum 2 years in a quantitative research role.

About you
Strong academic record with a degree involving high mathematical, statistical, and computing content such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or Physics. Knowledge and understanding of financial market return drivers. Demonstrable interest in algorithmic trading, financial derivatives, and markets. Ability to create systematic investment strategies, executing a full research pipeline from idea generation, data acquisition, hypothesis testing, signal construction, robustness checking, to portfolio construction using Python. Awareness of statistical and mathematical tools and ability to independently select appropriate techniques. Exceptional attention to detail, logical reasoning, and self-motivation. Ability to write clear, concise, and informative technical reports and proposals.

Qualifications
Degree with strong quantitative and computing content as described above.
