About the Role
At the RCN Foundation, we are committed to supporting, strengthening and championing the nursing profession. As a charity and grant-maker, we fund research, projects, education and hardship support for nurses, midwives and Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) to innovate, progress their careers and overcome challenges.

As the Benevolent Grants Manager, you will manage a first-class benevolent grants service bespoke to the nursing and midwifery professions. This role is essential in making key decisions relating to grant-making activity for individuals in need. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Benevolent Service until January 2027, leading the Benevolent Service Team in assessing applications and agreeing grants.

You will monitor trends in application rates and manage the service to respond promptly to beneficiaries’ needs. Your role includes monitoring and reporting on the outcomes and impact of the service, identifying trends within data and the wider economic landscape. You will ensure the online application portal on the CRM is fully utilised to manage all grant applications.

Additionally, you will maintain and develop a comprehensive signposting hub tailored to the nursing and midwifery professions, providing relevant support to individuals. The RCN Foundation’s Benevolent Service is a digital pioneer in benevolent grant-making, and you will lead further development of this digital service.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to build on your skills and experience while making a meaningful impact on the nursing community. You will work in a small team, responding swiftly to demand driven by external factors such as the cost-of-living crisis, and manage resources to support both team wellbeing and business needs.

We expect you to deliver exceptional customer service with efficiency, accuracy and empathy, supporting individuals professionally and effectively. You will also analyse data, write reports and present information concisely to a range of stakeholders.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursing, you need to think bigger, better and brighter. With that attitude, anything’s possible.

We offer an impressive range of benefits including up to 32 days annual leave plus bank holidays and three additional Christmas break days. New employees typically start at the first point of the salary range, with potential for negotiation based on skills and experience.
