About the Role
Walthamstow Academy, sponsored by United Learning, is seeking a caring, organised, motivated, and committed individual to join us as a Receptionist/Medical Officer. This role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and exceptional administrative, IT, and organisational skills. You will take a flexible “can do” approach when writing, editing, and updating Health Care Plans in collaboration with students, parents, and medical professionals, as well as preparing for and assisting with medical screening and immunisation programmes. Experience in a school environment is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.

The ideal candidate will be first aid trained and confident in assessing, administering, and evaluating the medical needs of students. You will oversee and manage the daily running of the medical provision, taking the lead on medical procedures, processes, and emergencies for both students and staff.

Main Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for students requiring medical assessment during the school day (e.g. diabetic students)
- Assess and evaluate medical needs of students requiring intervention and update Health Care Plans annually with students, parents, and medical professionals
- Provide first response First Aid to students and staff
- Complete Risk Assessments and Personal Evacuation Plans (PEEPS) where appropriate, ensuring information is shared with staff and recorded on Arbor
- Ensure medication, first aid kits, defibrillators, and supplies are stored safely, securely, and within date
- Allocate first aid kits for all trips and ensure care plans are available on trip days
- Prepare for and assist with medical screening and immunisation programmes

Requirements

Experience
Experience working in a school environment is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided. First aid training and confidence in administering and assessing medical needs are required.
