Hours
Full time – 37 hours a week, 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday with on call responsibilities and expectations to support the needs of the home
Salary
£55,000 per annum (salary may be exceeded for an exceptional candidate) plus £700 on call allowance – 1 in 4 weeks

About the Role
We are recruiting 2 x Registered Managers for a 2-bedroom home in London Fields, Hackney, and a 4-bedroom home in Stamford Hill. Action for Children is working in close partnership with London Borough of Hackney to develop and run a new trauma-informed therapeutic children’s home within the borough.
This exciting development will offer stable, safe, and loving homes enabling children and young people to stay in Hackney, supporting them to grow up happy and supported while maintaining and building important relationships.
Together, we will ensure children receive the highest standards of tailored support in a welcoming, safe, and high-quality home.
This role goes beyond traditional Registered Manager duties – you will lead the development and launch of the new children’s home, build and lead your team, and establish a strong foundation to secure OFSTED registration.
You will provide innovative care and support to create a safe, nurturing environment for trauma-informed children in Hackney.
Key responsibilities include:
- Recruiting and leading a dynamic workforce
- Setting values and principles aligned with national standards, Ofsted, and partnership principles with Hackney Borough Council
- Prioritising psychological safety, empathy, and relationship building
- Leading delivery of high-quality care that achieves positive outcomes for children and young people
- Ensuring children feel physically and psychologically safe and empowered
- Liaising with stakeholders, community, and other agencies
Interviews will be held via MS Teams followed by a face-to-face meeting in central London or Hackney.
Experience
Management experience in trauma-informed children’s residential care
Proven track record demonstrated by Good or Outstanding OFSTED ratings in leadership roles
Experience working with children at risk of criminal exploitation and sexual abuse
Understanding of cultural, societal, and ideological forces shaping child development

Strong leadership skills with the ability to recruit, develop, and lead a dynamic workforce
Qualifications
Level 5 qualification (e.g. Diploma in Leadership and Management of Residential Childcare) or equivalent
DBS Enhanced Adult & Children clearance required
