Salary: £30,469 to £34,512 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance pro rata (£15,234.5 to £17,256 per annum inclusive of London Weighting Allowance)
The University of Roehampton is recruiting a Research assistant at 0.5FTE to join Professor Bryony Hoskins’ dynamic research team.
The position arises from Professor Bryony Hoskins (PI) having won three prestigious projects; Two UKRI/EU Horizon funded research projects (1) Gender Empowerment through Politics in Classrooms (G-EPIC) Gender Empowerment Through Politics in the Classroom | G-EPIC and (2) Strategies for achieving equity and inclusion in education, training and learning in democratic Europe (STRIDE) Stride (stride-research.eu) and a UNICEF project supporting the development of Life Skills and Citizenship Education in Egypt, Tunisia, and the state of Palestine. The successful candidate will work across these three projects.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have knowledge in the education field and/or early childhood education, experience in mixed methods research and policy research and good project management skills. They will need to have experience in working with policymakers and teachers. They would need to have a high level of communication skills, in written English. Their research interests should be in either or a combination of education, inequalities and political engagement. They need to be able to assist the Principal Investigator as required and independently where necessary.
The successful candidate will have skills and experience in:
• Masters or PhD in relevant field
• Experience in undertaking mixed methods and policy research
• Experience of working with policy makers
• Experience of working with teachers
• Experience of working in a team
• Experience of working with a range of people from different countries, including non-governmental organizations and academics
• Experience of project management
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Evidence of disseminating complex material both orally and in writing to a wide audience
• Willingness to undertake continuing professional development and training as appropriate.
• Methodical approach to work with attention to detail
