About the Role
The Research GP will play a pivotal role in supporting and leading clinical research activities within Healthcare Central London. This part-time position involves working closely with the research team to identify and develop a diverse portfolio of research studies aligned with the site's capabilities and patient population. Key responsibilities include conducting detailed feasibility assessments, ensuring protocol compliance, and overseeing study conduct as Principal Investigator or Sub Principal Investigator where required.

The role requires active involvement in medical aspects of trials such as eligibility screening, history taking, examinations, investigations, procedures, and prescribing in line with study protocols. The Research GP will provide medical leadership, interpret test results, and communicate trial information to patients.

Effective communication and documentation are essential, including maintaining comprehensive records of oversight activities and facilitating collaboration between the research team, sponsors, and stakeholders. The Research GP will also contribute to recruitment strategies, monitor participant safety, and ensure data integrity and quality assurance.

Additional responsibilities include supervising and supporting the research team, promoting best practices and ethical standards, participating in regular research meetings, and contributing to training and competency assessments of medical and other healthcare professionals.

The role may also involve supporting the establishment of additional clinical services, assisting with clinical tasks as appropriate, supporting site preparedness for CQC inspections, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across the healthcare system.

Requirements

Experience
- Registered and licensed GP on the GMC register with MRCGP
- Listed on a primary care Performer’s List
- Training in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification, kept up to date
- Sound understanding of Research Governance including GCP
- Good IT skills including competent use of Microsoft tools
- Desirable: Experience in clinical research and familiarity with regulatory requirements
- Desirable: Experience in clinical trial delivery in primary care
- Desirable: Competent with SystmOne

Qualifications
- MRCGP qualification
- Current GMC registration and license to practice as a GP
- Up-to-date Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
