Hours
Full Time - 40 hours per week with a hybrid working policy requiring 40% of agreed hours on-site on average. Office attendance includes in-person training, meetings with stakeholders and families, and attendance at events.

Salary
£64,301 per annum

About the Role
As a Rheolwr Ymchwiliadau – Cymhleth, you will be part of a dynamic investigations team working locally and nationally across all types of investigations within the Investigation, Oversight and Casework directorate. You will direct and make decisions on urgent, contentious, and high-risk cases.

Working alongside the Investigations Performance and Resources Manager and Core Business Investigations, you will provide strategic leadership to teams of investigators, ensuring high-quality, robust, and independent investigations are delivered while demonstrating our core values in every aspect of your role.

You will be accountable for the quality, timeliness, and efficiency of investigations and play a key role in the Executive Practitioners Group for Decision Making; setting standards, embedding good practice in decision making, leading quality assurance processes, and providing peer support to decision makers across the organisation.

You will lead on Victims’ Right to Review, act as a decision maker on re-investigations, and review previous investigation decisions.

Applicants will be required to complete 2 sift questions based on essential criteria as part of the application process.

Assessment and interview dates are estimated to take place between early August and late September.

The role involves regular contact with distressing material likely to have an emotional, traumatic, and challenging impact. You may also come into contact with individuals experiencing extreme distress. Requirements

Experience
- Proven experience leading and managing teams in complex, high-profile investigations, ideally within regulatory, oversight, or public sector contexts
- Proven experience in investigating or leading investigations
- Experienced leader with a track record of effective collaboration
- Financial management experience
- Understanding of managing and caring for survivors and victims of crime, specifically sexual abuse
- Strong history of providing strategic direction to ensure high-quality, independent, and robust investigations
- Experience motivating teams to achieve high performance and continuous improvement
- Ability to supervise and direct teams, including workforce planning, resource allocation, and managing investigative priorities
- Extensive experience with investigative methodologies and principles applied to complex, large, and challenging investigations
- Experience working as part of a senior management team to develop and implement strategic vision for a function or organisation
- Experienced leader with a history of building high-performing operational teams in complex environments
- Experience managing disclosure in complex investigations
- Experience leading teams through significant change, engaging and motivating staff to embrace new ways of working

Desirable
- Experience working within a matrix management structure
- Experience delivering/leading large-scale or long-term investigations
- Experience with HOLMES case management system or strong understanding of its operation
- Valid driving licence for Wales and England

- Proven experience mentoring, coaching, and developing team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth

- Understanding of Policing in the UK
