About the Role
Amazon is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to lead the strategy and delivery of complex, first-time automation infrastructure deployments across our global fulfillment network. As part of the Robotics Delivery and Packaging Innovation International team, you will transform complex automation technologies into efficiently deployable solutions on a global scale. You will define deployment strategies and plans where none currently exist, own the full lifecycle of complex cross-functional infrastructure builds from concept through go-live and steady-state handover, and develop scalable mechanisms and predictable process paths that enable downstream teams to scale independently.

You will influence within a VP-level organization, advise Senior Managers and Directors on deployment strategy and trade-offs, and actively mentor and develop junior engineers. Working across multiple technologies and regions, you will engage with diverse stakeholders, regulatory environments, and technical challenges. The role requires approximately 50% travel across Europe during peak deployment seasons, with occasional international travel.

Key responsibilities include defining and owning end-to-end infrastructure deployment strategies for new automation technologies, managing the full lifecycle of complex infrastructure builds, leading cross-functional alignment, defining build requirements and dependencies, building scalable deployment frameworks and tooling, making data-driven trade-offs between short-term delivery and long-term sustainability, mentoring junior engineers, and improving processes to foster innovation and eliminate development collisions.

A typical day involves defining deployment strategies, leading complex first-time implementations on-site, coaching your team, capturing learnings into scalable mechanisms, interacting with diverse functional teams across multiple time zones, authoring narratives, presenting to Directors and VPs, building consensus on deployment decisions, and communicating across legal, regulatory, finance, and operations areas. Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent STEM field
- Experience building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites
- Experience managing programs for complex infrastructure technology or end-to-end deployments
- Experience defining infrastructure deployment strategies for new technologies where build plans did not previously exist
- Experience identifying deployment issues stemming from technical design and providing actionable feedback to engineering teams
- Experience influencing and advising Senior Leaders such as VPs and Directors on deployment strategy and trade-offs
- Experience mentoring and developing engineers
- Strong written communication skills including authoring narratives and presenting to senior leaders

Qualifications

- Preferred: Experience managing vendor relationships and external contractors at program level
- Preferred: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Agile, or Kaizen methodologies
