About the Role
This role involves working across multiple pharmacy functions including Dispensary, Aseptics, and Stores & Distribution to ensure the safe, effective, and economical use of medicines for all patients within the Trust. You will be responsible for accurately dispensing inpatient, outpatient, and discharge medications following departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Supporting the Dispensary Manager, you will contribute to the development of dispensary services and wider pharmacy policies impacting the Trust. You will use pharmacy computer systems to enter data accurately and ensure proper storage and archiving of information in line with local and regional guidelines. The role requires counselling patients on outpatient medication use where applicable and dispensing Controlled Drugs using the Omnicell System. You will also carry out daily housekeeping duties and assist with environmental monitoring and validation within the Aseptic Services, maintaining Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. In Stores & Distribution, you will follow procedures for issuing medicines, investigating errors, and managing deliveries from suppliers. The role demands initiative, prioritisation skills, and the ability to work standing or sitting at isolators for extended periods.

Requirements

Experience
No specific prior experience is required; however, familiarity with pharmacy operations or healthcare environments is advantageous.

Reliable and motivated with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality. You should be able to follow detailed procedures accurately and work effectively within a team. Flexibility to work rotational shifts including weekends and late shifts is essential. Good communication skills are important for patient counselling and liaising with colleagues. Ability to use initiative and prioritise workload appropriately is required.

Qualifications
Relevant pharmacy or healthcare qualifications are desirable but not mandatory. A willingness to learn and develop within the role is essential.
