About the Role
Historical Royal Palaces is the independent charity that cares for six of the most iconic palaces in the world. These palaces are the backdrop for stories that shape us all, and we are committed to bringing these stories to life in ways that resonate deeply with our audiences. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
We are seeking an experienced Events Sales and Marketing Manager to lead the sales, marketing, and business development strategy for Functions and Events across our six palaces. Working closely with the Head of Events and Commercial Services, you will maximise commercial income, strengthen our market profile, and support the delivery of our Annual Operating Plan objectives.
You will proactively promote, sell, and develop the venue hire offer across the Historic Royal Palaces portfolio by identifying target sectors, responding to market trends, and developing new commercial opportunities. Building strong relationships with clients, agents, venue finders, Destination Management Companies, event planners, accredited suppliers, industry partners, and internal teams will be key to growing new and repeat business.
In addition, you will lead the coordination and delivery of Functions & Events marketing, PR, social media, SEO, and AI-driven online performance activity to ensure our offer is visible, compelling, and easy for target audiences to find. As the business lead for F&E event systems, including diary management and e-proposal systems, you will ensure these tools support efficient, customer-focused ways of working.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and delivering a proactive sales strategy and annual sales plan to maximise the commercial potential of all six palaces.
- Leading and developing the Sales and Marketing Executive and Business Development Executive, building an effective, proactive team.
- Identifying and developing new commercial opportunities and products in response to industry demand and market trends.
- Managing key relationships with clients, third-party buyers, DMCs, venue finders, event planners, accredited suppliers, and industry partners.
- Delivering and reviewing F&E marketing activity, including PR, social media, SEO, web content, and AI-driven online performance.
Benefits include:
- Hybrid working
- Enhanced holiday entitlement
- Generous employer pension contributions (up to 11%)
- Annual pay reviews and bonuses
- Critical illness cover and life assurance
- Family friendly policies and benefits
- Staff discounts and membership to all palaces
We have adopted a hybrid working model, balancing home and site-based work. We are open to discussing arrangements that best support individual work-life balance while meeting business needs.
Closing date: 31st July 2026
Experience
Proven experience in event sales, marketing, and business development, ideally within unique venues or the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector. Demonstrated ability to develop sales plans, analyse performance and market conditions, manage accounts, and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About you
A creative and commercial thinker who is proactive, organised, and comfortable working collaboratively across teams. You place the customer experience at the heart of your work and have strong relationship-building skills. Confident in leading teams and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
