About the Role
Are you passionate about making a difference and shaping the future of local government? Islington Council is seeking a Scrutiny Officer to join our small but busy Scrutiny team within Democratic Services. In this role, you will support the Council’s scrutiny committees as they review and improve a wide range of services including housing, transport, health, and education.
You will gather evidence from residents, staff, partner organisations, and best practices from local and national government to inform committee reviews and recommendations. Your role will be instrumental in bringing together this evidence to support effective decision-making.
Additionally, you will support committees during formal meetings by writing minutes, advising on procedural matters, facilitating agenda compilation, coordinating guest speakers, and managing the webcasting of meetings on the Council’s website.
This is a politically restricted role requiring flexibility to work both remotely and in-person, with attendance at evening meetings as needed. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 9th September.
Islington Council is committed to challenging inequality and fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. We live by our CARE values: collaborative, ambitious, resourceful, and empowering, which guide everything we do to serve our communities and create a more equal borough.
