About the Role
Real Estate Finance (REF) is a commercial real estate lending group within the firm's Securitized Products Groups (SPG), part of the Investment Bank. REF focuses on Direct Lending of secured mortgage loans to hold on balance sheet or exit via syndication or securitization, and Indirect Lending via Loan-on-Loan or Repo Lines secured by real estate assets. The team acts as an arranger, connecting borrowers and lenders, and works with performing, sub-performing, and non-performing CRE loans. REF operates across development, construction lending, transitional, and cash-flowing assets, lending against major property classes including office, retail, logistics, multi-family residential, and operating businesses where real estate is key, such as hotels, data centres, and the care sector. The geographical focus includes the UK & Ireland, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, France, Germany, and other countries within EMEA and APAC. Clients include financial sponsors, private equity, institutional investors, financial institutions, property companies, and developers.
The role involves screening and researching investment and development loan opportunities throughout EMEA to assess viability, providing and analyzing market research to support recommendations, and undertaking property risk analysis including value, cash flow, and stabilization. You will leverage your network to gather market intelligence, analyze large portfolios to identify key metrics and risks, prepare deal proposals for internal committees, create and analyze financial models with sensitivity testing, and oversee real estate due diligence work streams.
Experience
Proven experience in data handling with flawless accuracy, strong analytical skills, and advanced financial modelling. Experience in risk analysis across various investment and development projects and familiarity with European real estate markets and practices. On-the-job experience across multiple sectors and geographies is essential. Established network of contacts with investors, developers, and advisors is highly desirable.

Curious and questioning mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong report writing skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly. Ability to meet UK regulatory requirements related to fitness, propriety, knowledge, and competence, including potential approval by the UK Financial Conduct Authority and/or Prudential Regulation Authority.
Qualifications
RICS qualification with a specialism in investment, development, or valuation is required. Demonstrated knowledge of real estate finance and underwriting principles is essential.
