About the Role
The Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) aims to create unrivalled development environments focused on empowering young aspiring footballers to maximise their potential both on and off the pitch. The EPPP prioritises elite player development and personal growth, ensuring Academies provide a safe, caring, and inclusive environment for all Academy Players, regardless of on-field progression. Due to maternity leave, we are seeking a Senior Academy Player Care Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract to lead and maintain outstanding Player Care services. This role supports current and former Academy Players’ academic, personal, and football development, with a strong emphasis on mental and emotional well-being.

The Senior Academy Player Care Manager will work closely with the Head of Player Care and Engagement to align First Team and Academy Player Care provisions. This critical role within the Football Development team involves partnership working with clubs and key stakeholders to drive standards and continuous improvement across Academy Player Care.

Key responsibilities include managing the Premier League Player App for Academy Players and parents/carers, leading club engagement and communications; overseeing the Premier League’s involvement in the ‘Futures’ initiative and related programmes; project managing annual transition programmes supporting released Academy Players; managing strategic relationships with key stakeholders such as the EFL, LFE, PFA, and PGAAC; overseeing operational planning, workflows, and priorities within Academy Player Care; managing the Player Care budget; driving workforce development through Regional Hubs and bespoke learning and development offers; supporting the Life Skills and Personal Development Programme; collaborating across Football Development teams on strategic initiatives including Safeguarding, Education, Elite Performance, and Community programmes; contributing to the Football Department’s Duty of Care Steering Group; providing in-club support alongside Academy Support Managers; ensuring alignment with First Team Player Care strategies; and line managing the Academy Player Care Executive.

Requirements

Experience
- Previous experience in a Player Care role within an Academy or First Team environment or elite/developmental sports setting.
- Practical and theoretical understanding of Player Care demands in elite-level sports.
- Experience working with children and adults at risk and knowledge of issues affecting their safety and wellbeing.
- Budget management experience.
- Excellent operational and project management skills.
- Strong IT skills and excellent knowledge of social media platforms.

Qualifications
- Enhanced DBS check.
