The Insights team is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist experienced in generative AI and large models to join our London office. This is a wide-impact role collaborating with development teams across the UK, India, and the US. You will work on a greenfield project delivering features that reduce operational load for internal Prime Video builders by developing personalized recommendations for their services. This role offers opportunities to grow both technical and non-technical skills and make a global impact immediately.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop machine learning algorithms for high-scale recommendation problems
- Rapidly design, prototype, and test multiple hypotheses in a high-ambiguity environment using quantitative analysis and business judgment
- Collaborate with software engineers to integrate successful experiments into Prime Video-wide processes
- Communicate results and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations and written reports
A Day in the Life
You will lead the design of machine learning models that scale to very large datasets across multiple dimensions. You will apply scientific rigor by designing and executing experiments to demonstrate the technical effectiveness and business value of your methods. You will work closely with other scientists and engineering teams to deploy your research into production systems.
About the Team
Our team owns Prime Video observability features for development teams, processing petabytes of data daily to reduce customer impact time.
Experience
- Programming experience in Java, C++, Python, or related languages
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
- Experience building machine learning models for business applications
- Experience in applied research

You are a motivated scientist with strong technical ability, excellent teamwork and communication skills, and a passion for delivering customer value through research. You thrive in dynamic environments and enjoy collaborating across global teams.
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field such as engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics, or an equivalent quantitative field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- Preferred: Experience using managed ML/AI solutions
- Preferred: Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, numpy, scipy
- Preferred: Experience with large-scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark
