About the Role
Join Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) as our Senior BI Analyst and become the driving force behind our Microsoft Fabric vision. In this pivotal role, you will shape and lead our end-to-end analytics journey using a clear six-phase framework: Assessment & Planning, Design & Architecture, Implementation & Development, Testing & Deployment, Governance & Monitoring, and Adoption & Optimisation.
You will work at the heart of our data modernisation strategy—building lakehouse architectures, integrating with OneLake, developing Synapse pipelines, and unlocking deeper insights with Power BI. This is an opportunity to influence how a leading social housing provider uses data to deliver real impact for communities.
Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining BI solutions that enable effective decision-making and insight across NHG. You will work independently and collaboratively to lead the creation of data visualisations and analytical models using Power BI and Azure technologies. Additionally, you will mentor others, helping to grow BI capability across the organisation while promoting best practices in analytics, data quality, and reporting.
Key activities:
- Develop complex BI solutions and dashboards using Power BI and Azure data services
- Collaborate with data engineers and business users to design effective data products
- Ensure BI systems are efficient, reliable, and aligned with NHG's business goals
- Support colleagues by sharing knowledge and improving analytical capability across teams
- Monitor and maintain BI solutions to ensure consistent performance and availability
- Troubleshoot issues proactively, escalating as needed and maintaining strong communication during incidents
- Champion data ethics, data quality, and user experience in all BI products
- Support the ongoing development of NHG's analytics roadmap
- Lead user-centred design for Power BI dashboards and data visualisations, ensuring intuitive, accessible, and efficient user experiences
- Conduct UX research, analysis, and evaluation to anticipate user needs and optimise interface usability
- Wireframe and prototype intuitive data flows using tools such as Axure RP, incorporating feedback through user testing and iteration
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex stakeholder requirements into ethical, privacy-focused BI solutions
- Apply hands-on Power BI expertise to manipulate, cleanse, and visualise data effectively
- Design and build scalable, Azure-integrated prototypes that support enterprise-level reporting and analytics
- Mentor junior analysts on UX principles, data visualisation best practices, and human-centred design methodologies
This role also involves leading the end-to-end delivery of Microsoft Fabric solutions across NHG using a structured six-phase framework, designing and developing scalable analytics architectures including lakehouse solutions, OneLake integrations, and Synapse Data Engineering pipelines. You will build and optimise Power BI data models, conduct business and data maturity assessments, implement efficient ELT patterns, establish Git-based CI/CD practices, and champion robust data governance using Microsoft Purview.
Experience
- Proven experience in developing BI solutions using Power BI and Azure
- Strong data modelling, cleansing, and transformation experience
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and translating business requirements into BI products
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and best practices in documentation
- Strong communication skills and ability to mentor others
- Awareness of ethics, privacy, and user experience principles in BI
- Pragmatism and determination to deliver effective results

You bring curiosity, creativity, and technical excellence, along with a passion for applying data science to make a tangible difference. You are proactive in sharing knowledge, committed to high standards of data quality and governance, and enthusiastic about mentoring and developing others within the organisation.
