About the Role
Are you passionate about using data to shape how millions of customers experience Amazon? We are seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to lead analytics across EU Customer Experience programmes and Catalogue Health. These workstreams directly influence what European customers see, discover, and buy every day. You will design data models that reveal how catalogue defects degrade the shopping experience, build measurement frameworks that inform leadership which programmes are driving impact, and deliver analytical foundations that guide strategic decisions across ten European marketplaces.
On the engineering side, you will build production-grade data pipelines using Python, Spark, SQL, and AWS serverless infrastructure. On the analytics side, you will own insights that shape programme direction by deep-diving into customer engagement data, quantifying the impact of quality improvements on shopping behaviour, and surfacing opportunities that inform future developments. You will also contribute to AI-powered self-serve analytics capabilities, building data foundations that accelerate how quickly teams act on customer signals.
This role requires someone comfortable with ambiguity who can take end-to-end ownership—from scoping what to measure to delivering insights that change prioritisation. You will influence senior stakeholders, define success metrics for programmes without existing measurement, and operate at the intersection of data and strategy. If you want your analytical work to directly impact how European customers discover and evaluate products, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of analytical data products including datamarts, automated reporting suites, deep-dive frameworks, and AI-powered self-serve tools that provide leadership clear visibility into customer experience performance across EU marketplaces
- Define and track success metrics for programmes lacking measurement, collaborating with senior stakeholders to establish goals and build tracking infrastructure
- Build analytics connecting catalogue quality to real customer outcomes such as engagement, conversion, and abandonment, turning invisible problems into actionable priorities
- Develop measurement frameworks for emerging AI-powered shopping experiences to provide leadership with evidence for scaling or pivoting
- Contribute to AI-powered self-serve analytics suites by designing data models and tooling that enable product teams to move from question to insight to action independently
- Build prioritisation and scoring models using Python and large-scale retail data to influence which customer experience improvements receive resources
- Conduct deep-dive analyses that challenge assumptions, uncover non-obvious drivers of customer behaviour, and translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Partner with Product and Program Managers to translate ambiguous goals into measurable frameworks and own the analytical narrative shaping roadmap decisions at Director and VP levels
About the Team
We are the EU Stores Customer Experience Analytics & Automation team, supporting customer experience strategy across ten European marketplaces. Our team sits at the technical core of this mission, focusing on CX Analytics—measuring programme effectiveness and prioritising initiatives—and Automated Marketing Technology—building foundational tools and models for automated, personalised experiences at scale. Your work will span customer experience programmes and catalogue quality, with direct access to senior leaders who shape priorities and provide visibility at Director and VP levels. We value impact over complexity, ownership, and working at the intersection of data, product, and customer experience.
Experience
- Programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Working with AWS technologies
- Scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills
- Collaborating directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
- Data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
About You
You are comfortable working in ambiguous environments and taking full ownership of problems end-to-end. You have strong analytical skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and translate complex data into actionable insights. You enjoy working at the intersection of data, product, and customer experience and value delivering measurable impact over complexity.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with AI/LLM-powered analytics tooling such as text-to-SQL and automated insight generation is preferred
- Experience building Python automation and BI solutions deployed to AWS Lambda (e.g. automations, APIs) is a plus
