About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to join the Greater London Authority as a Senior Communications Officer supporting the City Hall Conservative Members of the London Assembly. You will specialise in managing communications support, generating digital and traditional media coverage for assigned Assembly Members in relation to their Greater London Authority roles and functions. Your role will include responding to media enquiries promptly and accurately, ensuring responses reflect the Members’ views.
You will develop and implement media-based tasks such as producing digital, video and newsletter content, clipping Assembly Member contributions in the London Assembly chamber, and monitoring relevant media activity. You will provide timely advice and early warnings of potential media issues to Assembly Members, and develop comprehensive, proactive communications strategies in close coordination with Group staff.
Additional responsibilities include supporting Assembly Members with event coordination, speech and article drafting, and website updates. The role requires an organised, collaborative and diplomatic communicator with strong influencing skills, both written and verbal.
The Communications Team consists of 12 officers supporting seven Conservative London Assembly Members in scrutinising the work of the Greater London Authority and the Mayor of London.
Experience
Proven success in a similar communications role within a high-profile organisation is essential. Experience must include media handling techniques, designing and delivering effective communications plans for elected politicians, and working with video editing software.

You must be able to work effectively under pressure, adapt to changing priorities, and build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. A strong understanding of organisational dynamics, culture and politics within the public sector is important.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in communications, media, or a related field are expected. Proficiency in the latest information and communication technologies, including designing or commissioning leaflets, newsletters and other documents, is required.
