About the Role
As a Senior Database Migration Architect, you will work closely with customers and partners to plan, prepare, and deliver complex cloud transformation and migration projects tailored to diverse customer needs. You will build and maintain strong relationships with C-level executives to shape their cloud migration and transformation roadmaps. On a daily basis, you will assess organizational readiness for cloud adoption, guide customers in defining goals, objectives, and business outcomes, and align cloud visions to achieve those results. You will identify solutions to overcome both technical and organizational challenges and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to support pre-sales activities. This role requires experience delivering IT solutions in an agile environment, managing all phases of the project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery. Key Responsibilities
- Represent AWS within customer environments and engage senior personnel in discussions on trade-offs, methodologies, project management, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with AWS Platform Service Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure successful consulting engagements.
- Work directly with customers' technical teams to recommend solutions based on requirements.
- Think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in enterprise environments.
- Analyze on-premises database environments such as Oracle, SQL Server, or other commercial DB engines and migrate to open source engines like Aurora-PostgreSQL/MySQL, Redshift, or DynamoDB.
- Consult on optimal database environment design, analyze complex distributed deployments, and recommend performance optimizations.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex business and technology problems.
- Be a UK national able to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Clearance.

Experience
- Proven experience as a technical specialist in design and architecture.
- Experience implementing AWS services across distributed computing environments.
- Expertise in data lake architecture and design (Lake Formation, S3-based architectures).
- Implementation of Medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold layer design).
- Knowledge of data strategy and governance frameworks.
- Data modeling and schema design for analytics workloads.
- Modern data platform design and implementation.
- ETL/ELT pipeline development and optimization using Glue and EMR.
- Experience with data warehousing solutions such as Redshift.
- Data catalog management and metadata governance.
