About the Role
The Senior Development Manager will lead the delivery of some of London’s largest, most complex and strategic development projects for GLA Land and Property Limited (GLAP), the Greater London Authority’s commercial subsidiary for property investment, development and asset management. Reporting to the Head of Development, you will oversee three large projects and have line management responsibility for a Development Manager.

GLAP is responsible for delivering the Mayor’s ambitious plans to build up to 68,000 new homes on the Mayor’s land and joint venture interests over the next 25 years. This includes managing housing investment programmes, land and property assets to support affordable homes, job creation, regeneration, and contributing to making London a Net-Zero city by 2030.

Your typical day will involve interfacing with legal advisors on contract matters, negotiating contracts, attending design and planning meetings, engaging with stakeholders, updating costs, revenue and housing delivery projections, and preparing executive and political briefings.

About the Team
The Housing and Land directorate works closely with boroughs and partners to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities across London. GLAP aims to unlock development outcomes through its portfolio of land and property assets, supporting the Mayor’s objectives of building more affordable homes, creating jobs, and driving regeneration.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant regeneration and/or development experience with an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. chartered surveyor or similar)
- Strong understanding of procurement, design, project finance and viability, planning, and legal agreements related to development transactions
- Commercial and political awareness
- Proven relationship management and negotiation skills
- Project management expertise

- Organisational awareness with sensitivity to political and cultural dynamics
- Strong planning and organising skills to deliver high-quality work on time

Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualification such as chartered surveyor or equivalent is essential
