About the Role
As a Senior DevOps Engineer at HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS), you will collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders including user researchers, product managers, designers, business analysts, delivery managers and digital architects. Together, you will work towards transforming public services through smarter use of technology.
You will be responsible for maintaining and evolving Wowza and Camunda instances in the Production environment, as well as partnering with Software Development teams to enhance DevOps practices.
Your key responsibilities will include designing, building, maintaining and improving CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling and engineering standards across services and platforms. You will transform technical requirements into effective DevOps tooling and processes that enable safe, fast and reliable product delivery.
You will ensure deployment strategies are repeatable, scalable, resilient and highly available across multiple environments, automate infrastructure provisioning and operational tasks using infrastructure as code and scripting, and support live services including incident response, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Additionally, you will implement and improve observability through monitoring, alerting, logging and dashboards, apply security best practices across the delivery lifecycle, manage service availability and performance in a cost-conscious manner, and coach and mentor junior colleagues to develop DevOps capability across the organisation.
The role also involves participation in recruitment, procurement and supplier engagement, and supporting planned and urgent out-of-hours work for releases, pipeline updates, smoke testing, incidents and essential maintenance.
Technologies heavily used include Java and Spring Boot, Node.js, Power Platform, Jenkins, Dynatrace, Kubernetes, Docker, Azure, Terraform, Postgres, Redis, and the GOV.UK Design System.
