About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to become a key member of the EMEA Accounting team based in London. This role is responsible for aspects of the controllership and accounting function supporting EMEA operations across multiple legal entities and stakeholders in different locations. The focus will be on reporting results to the business and implementing process improvements aligned with global goals. The role includes ownership and leadership of cross-border projects, developing best practices in processes and controllership internationally, with an emphasis on leveraging new technology and subject matter expertise. You will also collaborate with the financial leadership team worldwide to create and implement policies. This position is office-based, with Amazon encouraging open communication about flexible working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the EMEA Accounting team in senior management meetings on key financial statement areas
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closes for EMEA operations, ensuring robust review, decision-making, and escalation mechanisms with finance partners and management
- Drive standardization and continuous improvement of processes and controls to ensure the highest integrity of financial reporting (US GAAP, local GAAP, and management reporting)
- Deliver functional projects across countries, implementing best accounting and controllership practices to enhance the control environment
- Ensure alignment of EMEA Accounting activities with the Worldwide Accounting Organization
- Communicate accounting and finance terminology clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Support internal and external audit processes
Experience
- Experience in tax, finance, or a related analytical field
- Proven ability to apply key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses
- Experience creating process improvements through automation and analysis
- Skilled in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes
- Advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence
- Accounting management experience in Big Four firms with Fortune 500 clients
- Experience managing and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously (preferred)

Qualifications
- Certified accountant qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of accounting principles, processes, and entries (preferred)
