About the Role
The right financial and business decisions have made Amazon what it is today. As a Trade Compliance Senior Finance Analyst, you will drive compliance business decisions in Amazon's global imports business to enable imports topline growth and improve operating margins. You will work closely with Amazon's imports teams worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to act as the key finance leader for a strategic programme and play a pivotal role in shaping our imports business. You will lead others and use insights to advise senior stakeholders on advancing our business ambitions.
Key responsibilities include building financial models to drive business decisions and make judgement calls using your understanding of Amazon's imports cost structure; leading projects by managing timelines, priorities, auditing quality, and resolving issues; generating insights from financial data to identify efficiency opportunities and communicating findings to leadership to drive business actions; owning the financial and operational plan and financial reporting, creating scalable processes, and monitoring teams for accuracy; and onboarding, developing, and mentoring team members in financial reporting best practices and knowledge sharing.
A day in the life involves taking a hands-on role to boost business performance and efficiency, collaborating with partners across different business areas to provide insights on operational improvements, deep diving into data, managing planning processes, and guiding team members on complex cost structures. You will also support teams worldwide in accessing vital insights and collaborate closely with partners to inform and guide key decisions.
About the team: Compliance works across Amazon to uphold global and local regulations, laws, and safety standards. The team ensures safe importation of restricted products, accurate product classification, and proper customer safety warnings. Using data, automation, and world-class systems, the team enhances the customer shopping experience. The team is globally distributed across regions including China, India, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and South America.
Experience
- Experience in multiple finance and accounting roles or delivering results for large, cross-functional initiatives/projects
- Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools such as SQL, MS Power Query, Python, or advanced Excel skills (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)
- Experience building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving
