About the Role
Join the Ministry of Justice's award-winning Communications Directorate as a Senior Outreach, Partnerships and Retention Communications Manager. We are recruiting two professionals to join the Recruitment and Retention Communications team, supporting key workforce priorities to attract, engage and retain talent essential to delivering justice across England and Wales.

These newly created roles offer a unique opportunity to shape and develop outreach events, partnership engagement, and retention communications linked directly to ministerial and departmental priorities.

The Recruitment and Retention Communications team delivers insight-led, high-impact communications supporting recruitment and retention across critical operational and judicial roles. The team works across employee engagement, internal and stakeholder communications, outreach, partnership development, and strategic planning.

Role one focuses on outreach events and retention communications, developing strategies for recruitment fairs, open days, educational partnerships, employer engagement, and community outreach. This role involves managing communications projects, working with press, digital and wider communications teams, and continuing consultancy work with prisons and probation on retention.

Role two focuses on magistrates employer collaboration, developing strategies to influence senior HR employers to support magistrates’ recruitment, building advocacy relationships with professional bodies, educational institutions and community groups, and coordinating magistrates’ communications across MoJ, HMCTS, Judicial Office, and policy teams.

Both roles require confident relationship building, proactive and autonomous working, and the ability to turn insight into practical communications delivering measurable outcomes.

Requirements

Experience
- Developing and delivering communications strategies, campaigns and engagement activities that support recruitment and retention priorities.
- Building and managing strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
- Managing communications projects including planning, delivery, risk management and evaluation.
- Using audience insight to inform communications and evaluate impact.
- Producing high-quality content tailored to diverse audiences and channels.
- Line management experience may be required for supporting a communications officer.

Qualifications
Security Clearance: SC level national security vetting is required.

Additional requirements:
- Candidates must meet nationality and residency requirements consistent with UK government roles.
- Successful candidates will undergo a criminal record check and security vetting.
