About the Role
As a Senior Pharmacy Assistant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day ordering, receiving, and unpacking of pharmaceutical products from suppliers in accordance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will ensure medicines are sourced from credible and reliable suppliers and that purchasing contracts are strictly adhered to. Accurate use of the pharmacy computer system to receive goods into the pharmacy store is essential, following departmental SOPs. You will also ensure that all goods received are stored under appropriate conditions in line with GDP requirements.

IMPORTANT: All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting to work in a prison setting. This vetting will be completed as part of pre-employment checks through Oxleas and the prison vetting team. Applicants will be required to provide proof of right to work, photographic ID, proof of address, and additional documentation depending on nationality and residency history as part of the vetting process.

Experience
Experience in pharmacy stock management or a similar role is highly desirable to ensure accurate handling and storage of pharmaceutical products.

About you
You must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work within strict regulatory frameworks. A willingness to comply with National Security Vetting and work in a secure prison environment is essential. Strong organisational skills and the ability to use pharmacy computer systems accurately are required.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or training in pharmacy support or healthcare are advantageous but not mandatory. The key requirement is a commitment to following SOPs and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
