About the Role
As a Senior Practitioner and Supervisor within the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), you will supervise and line manage a team of mental health professionals and trainees based in schools. Working closely with the Head of Mental Health Support and Inclusion and Clinical Lead, you will ensure the provision is high quality, clinically safe, and reflects best practice. You will be responsible for meeting the KPIs and objectives of the MHST and your team, providing high-quality case-management support, auditing cases for quality and safeguarding, and acting as Duty Manager on a shared rota basis (up to 2 days per week).
You will assess and monitor risk, develop risk management plans, and support your team in managing appropriate levels of risk. You will participate in and deliver group clinical supervision, reflective practice sessions, and training. Additionally, you will support the expansion of the service into new schools, provide guidance on CYP-MH compliant routine outcome measures, and use IAPTUS and HR databases for effective case and management recording.
You will advise on safeguarding and clinical risk issues in line with organisational and school policies, support staff in delivering tailored services to diverse children and families, and oversee the development of new resources to support young people with additional needs or who have disengaged from school. You will also participate in your own clinical supervision and line management, keep up to date with relevant policies, and attend training and CPD opportunities to meet the requirements of your professional body.
In your clinical delivery role, you will work directly with school-aged children, young people, and families to provide high-quality interventions reflecting the local population and individual needs. You will support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families in self-management of difficulties, working in partnership to provide culturally appropriate psychological interventions. Holding a caseload including more complex cases, you will make referrals to appropriate agencies such as CAMHS.
You will develop and deliver workshops, groups, and individual interventions in schools using CBT principles and collaborate with the Whole School Approach Lead and Clinical Lead to identify training and support needs for school staff and parents.
