Location
Central London office with a hybrid work policy. Presence in the Bloomsbury studio is preferred on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

Hours
3-4 days per week, freelance contract from June to October 2026, with potential for extension based on work and relationship development.

Salary

About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on freelance Senior Product Engineer to join Wonderbly and focus on driving growth for wonderbly.com into Q4. You will work closely with the VP of Product and cross-functional teams to solve complex customer experience challenges specifically around our Kids and Keepsake landing pages and user journeys. This role requires strong judgment to identify the right solutions and execute them effectively, rather than simply following a brief. You will be part of a small, focused team with a good degree of autonomy.

The work you do will directly impact the creation of beautifully made, deeply personal books that customers treasure, so quality and first impressions are paramount. As an AI-first engineering team, we value thoughtful use of AI tools to accelerate progress and tackle challenging problems. Collaboration is key, and we believe the best results come from working together in person at our Bloomsbury studio.

The initial contract is for three months, with the expectation of growth as the project and working relationship evolve.

Experience
- Comfortable working across multiple domains including creative, product, and marketing teams.
- Strong experience with backend development, ecommerce platforms, and UX.
- Ability to rapidly get up to speed with our tech stack.

Astro as headless e-commerce storefront app
Next.js for custom personalisation capture “canvas” app
Typescript throughout
Deployment on Heroku (migrating to Render)
Prismic CMS and custom ecommerce backend
Focus on developer experience with openness to improvements
