About the Role
The BMC Academic Journals group supports researchers in communicating and advancing discovery for a better world by providing a trusted environment for sharing discoveries, data, and research stories quickly, easily, and transparently. As Senior Publisher, you will manage a portfolio of open access proprietary life sciences journals, particularly within the Agriculture field. Reporting to an Executive Publisher, you will be responsible for the management, strategic development, and success of individual journals, liaising with internal staff, external journal Editors, and the scientific community. This role involves driving portfolio growth, managing annual targets, delivering excellent author experience, fostering engagement with Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Board Members, resolving publication issues, supporting data-driven decision-making, managing contract negotiations, and maintaining market intelligence. The position is offered on a full-time, maternity cover basis and can be based in London or New York with a hybrid working pattern.
Experience
- Educated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent, preferably in life, biomedical or health sciences
- Solid previous experience in journal academic publishing
- Experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with academic and industry-based researchers
- Strong technical skills with sharp attention to detail
