About the Role
Murphy is recruiting a Senior Site Agent to join their Energy team working on the HWUP National Grid project in North London. Murphy is renowned for its extensive in-house expertise, innovation, and commitment to delivering value across the energy sector. The company supports major transmission and distribution projects across multiple countries, providing design, construction, and commissioning services within conventional power and energy transition markets.

As a Senior Site Agent, you will provide site-based leadership for all construction and installation operations, promoting Health & Safety management, construction best practices, and efficient management of site resources in close liaison with the Project Manager. You will work closely with the Engineering and Site Management teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Key responsibilities include establishing and promoting best practices in health, safety, and environmental matters; producing and maintaining Construction Phase Plans, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Task Briefings; ensuring all personnel are suitably trained and competent; driving a positive delivery culture focused on safety, quality, and environment; leading pre-construction and weekly progress meetings; and fostering strong relationships with subcontractors and the buying department to ensure compliant procurement.

The role involves managing packages predominantly related to Formwork Reinforced Concrete (FRC), Steel Frame and Cladding, and the fit-out of the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Hall. You will also support the project delivery team technically and help develop project sequencing and programmes alongside the Project Manager.

Experience
- Minimum HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or equivalent, ideally a degree.
- Proven experience in large civil engineering projects.
- Experience working on substations is preferable but not essential.
- Successful experience as a section or trades foreman.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of construction site setup and daily operations.
- Understanding of commercial issues in large-scale construction projects.
- Experience leading self-delivered projects.
- Ability to read and work to drawings and programmes, maintaining written and electronic records.
- Must hold a valid driving licence.

Qualifications
- HNC/HND Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification, degree preferred.
- SCS Card (Black or White) and SSSTS/SMSTS certification.
- Understanding of NEC4 Contract.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures, including safety and environmental requirements.
- Ability to produce, implement, and manage safe systems of work for construction procedures.
