As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Offers Domain team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical domain that powers all Expedia Group brands and product lines. The team focuses on delivering simple, clear, accurate, and transparent pricing throughout the shopping and booking journeys, meeting traveler expectations in locally relevant ways while adhering to regulatory norms.

In this role, you will design, build, and evolve robust, scalable, and secure backend services and applications. You will lead the end-to-end implementation of complex features and systems, from technical design and coding through testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing operational support. You will partner closely with product, architecture, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical solutions that can be reused across multiple brands and platforms.

You will drive engineering excellence by championing code quality, automated testing, observability, performance optimization, and simplification. You will take technical responsibility for service health, scalability, resilience, and the ongoing reduction of technical debt and operational overhead. Additionally, you will provide technical mentorship and guidance to other engineers, sharing domain and industry knowledge, and modeling best practices in system design, API design, and data modeling.

Another key aspect of this role is safely integrating and operating AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve outcomes. You will demonstrate familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and apply AI/ML concepts to real-world products while adhering to established patterns and guidelines.

Experience
- 8+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on backend development using Java or Kotlin.
- Proven experience owning production services or components throughout their lifecycle including system design, API design, data modeling, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and operational responsibility.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex distributed systems and design moderately complex solutions aligned with business outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of integration patterns, testing and monitoring tools, and operational excellence practices such as unit testing, SLAs, resiliency, scalability patterns, and alerting.
- Experience mentoring at least three engineers.
- Preferred: Experience designing distributed or multi-service architectures for pricing, offers, or similarly high-scale transactional domains.
- Preferred: Technical leadership in defining architectural direction, influencing design patterns, guiding cross-team integrations, and communicating trade-offs.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience integrating or consuming AI/ML-enabled services or platforms in production and applying AI-assisted development or testing tools.
