About the Role
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Senior Solutions Architect to join our Financial Services team, focusing on Capital Markets customers in the UK. As a trusted technical advisor, you will help leading financial institutions innovate and transform their business using AWS technologies. You will own the overall technical relationship with customers and provide recommendations on security, cost, performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. Working closely with AWS customers, you will understand their business needs and provide prescriptive guidance on creating business value through technology. Collaboration with account management, professional services, support, product teams, and the AWS partner ecosystem is essential to your success.

In this role, you will exercise creativity by linking technology to tangible solutions and educating customers about the possibilities within a diverse and evolving market. You will partner with an Account Executive to help customers achieve their outcomes using AWS technology. The Solutions Architecture team is diverse, welcoming technologists from various backgrounds. Practical knowledge of the AWS platform is desired but not required, provided you have a strong technical foundation and a desire to learn.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical relationship with customers and act as their trusted advisor, prioritizing their best interests
- Lead technical discussions, architecture design and reviews, and workshops across trading, risk, post-trade, market data, asset and wealth management domains to drive business value
- Design scalable and secure solutions leveraging AWS services and emerging technologies such as AI/ML and HPC
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop and execute customer engagement strategies
- Create technical content and reference architectures for capital markets use cases
- Influence AWS product roadmap based on customer needs

Experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent, or relevant professional or military experience
- Experience in IT development, implementation, or consulting within software or Internet industries
- Experience in specific technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics
- Experience designing, implementing, or consulting on applications and infrastructures
- Proven ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders

Qualifications

- Experience in infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking is advantageous
- Experience working with end user or developer communities is a plus
- Prior experience in the financial services industry is preferred but not mandatory
