About the Role
Do you enjoy helping customers implement innovative cloud computing solutions and solving technical challenges using the latest technologies? As a Senior Solutions Architect within the AWS WWPS Partner team, you will shape and deliver strategies to build broad adoption of AWS services—including AI/ML, high-performance computing (HPC), advanced analytics, digital engineering, and manufacturing systems modernization—directly with defence-sector systems integrators, consulting, and technology partners. You will act as a dedicated technical resource for high-growth defence partners navigating critical cloud adoption and modernization initiatives, leading strategic engagements at the executive level with minimal oversight.
Your responsibilities include owning the technical engagement and success of specific implementation projects; defining architectures across compute, data, machine learning, and operational tooling; responding to RFPs; developing deep AWS technology expertise; and serving as a subject matter expert on defence industry workflows, compliance frameworks, and mission-critical environment challenges. You will drive architectural decisions across multiple concurrent workstreams and ensure AWS is positioned as the strategic infrastructure partner of choice during critical scaling periods.
This role requires independent operation, credible communication with both technical and executive stakeholders, and maintaining momentum across complex, multi-domain engagements. The position requires UK nationality and the ability to hold or attain UK Security Clearance. Up to 25% travel may be required.
Experience
- 8+ years in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics
- 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructures
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders
About you
- Trusted advisor mindset with strong consultative and leadership skills
- Deep understanding of defence industry workflows, compliance frameworks, and operational constraints unique to aerospace and defence partners
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple concurrent partner engagements
- UK national able to hold or attain UK Security Clearance
Qualifications
- Preferred 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
- Experience in a technical role within a sales organization is advantageous
- Familiarity with AI/ML, HPC, digital engineering, advanced manufacturing, or data engineering workloads on AWS
- Knowledge of defence compliance frameworks is highly desirable
